The units you will study are: • Music Performance Techniques • Working and Developing as a Musical Ensemble • Composing Music • Pop Music in Practice • Solo Music Performance Skills • Music Project Students will be on a specific programme of instrumental study, which will include music theory. They will be required to practise individually and as a member of an ensemble regularly.
The study of Music at GCSE Grade B is preferable, and the ability to play an instrument (or sing) is a necessity. There are no exams for this course so it is very important that you are willing to work hard and to work independently. You will need to show commitment, practise regularly and rehearse with your ensemble as well as independently. You will also be expected to complete written tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
It is a practical course that prepares you for further musical study or a possible route into the music industry. It will also equip you with universal skills for future employment such as, communication, dedication, time management, working to deadlines, problem solving, presentation skills and working as part of a team.
