Course description

You will cover these 4 topics for AS:

1. Youth culture and concerns
2. Lifestyle, health and fitness
3. The World around us
4. Education and employment

For A2 students you will explore the above topics in more detail and add the following: 5. History, the arts and literature
6. Society and current events
7. World questions
8. Traditions, beliefs and convictions

Entry requirements

You must have a GCSE in French of a Grade B or above for AS. Progress to A2 will depend on the outcome of the AS course.

Future opportunities

You could go on to do a specialist language degree but universities and employers are also very keen on finding people who have a language qualification at any level. It is of use in the following fields: business, commerce, education, employment abroad, tourism and translation. A wide range of transferable skills can be gained including the ability to communicate in a language other than English, team work, individual research, interpretation of data and statistics, evaluating and justifying points of view and the ability to learn grammar and vocabulary by heart which is useful for learning any other language in the future.
