Course description

This course is aimed at people with a keen interest to start a career in
the construction industry. It will particularly appeal to those wishing
to explore practical elements of the Building Service and general
construction areas, gaining good hand and employability skills. It
has a wide range of practical elements and incorporates some theory
areas of the Construction Industry. This qualification is ideal for
those wishing to gain entry to the field of Construction or Building
Maintenance. During the course you will experience tasters in many
construction areas and develop basic skills which could lead you to
pursue a particular skilled career path. Examples of course content
can include: Painting & Decorating, Plastering, Bricklaying, Tiling,
Plumbing and Carpentry.
 
Full Time Study Programmes are built around a collection of key
elements which all students benefit from, these include:
 
• Main Qualification in the subject of your choice
• English & mathematics qualifications for all students who have not
yet achieved A*- C grade in either subject
• Work Experience or External Work Placement which is planned
with you at the start of your course and links to your career goals
and ambitions
• Weekly Tutorial with your personal tutor
• A wide range of Enrichment Activities to support your broader
skills, such as team work or communication

4 GCSEs at D or above including English and Maths 

Assessment

Each element of the course will be assessed through assignments.

You could apply for an Apprenticeship and continue your training
whilst working

Further information

You will need boots, overalls, notebook/pad, writing/drawing
implements and folder, calculator. One year course. The qualification
will suit those students who prefer not to do written examinations
