Performing Arts BTEC level 3 National Extended Diploma at Falmouth School

Course description

The BTEC National Extended Diploma in Performing Arts is a Level 3 course, which is equivalent to 3 A Levels both in size of delivery and value for University applications. One of a new suite of BTEC qualifications Falmouth School has piloted this year, it has been exciting to introduce a strong practical Performing Arts course, which provides a true platform for university, the individual performance skills acquisition as well as the employer engagement developing understanding of the industry through work experience. This unique course is taught in conjunction with Falmouth University, and students are able to use the world-class facilities on the new Falmouth University Penryn Campus as part of their studies. It progressively builds on the study and practice of a number of units, important for the development of individual skills, such as acting or contemporary dance, with group work and public performances. One other A Level subject can be studied alongside this full course. In total, students will study thirteen units over the two year course, which include the 7 mandatory units identified below and a further 6 to reflect a broad range of performance skills, which reflect current trends in the performing arts industry where performers are increasingly asked to have a wide range of practical, hands-on experience.
