Course content

This course will give you the opportunity to study in one or more areas of textiles:
  • Printed and/or Dyed Textiles
  • Fashion and/or costume,
  • Soft Furnishings,
  • Hand and Machine Embroidery.
You will study the work and styles of Textile Artists and Designers, Movements and Cultures to develop a piece of work from your research and investigations.
You will analyse and develop ideas from practising artists and designers to inform and inspire your own work.
You will develop an understanding of textiles through a range of practical activities using a variety of materials and processes.


The Coursework is 60% of the total marks and is centre assessed and moderated by AQA.
The controlled test is 40% of the total marks and is set by AQA, Centre assessed and moderated by AQA. A preparotary period is given by the centre and the exam consists of 10 hours of supervised time.
