Performing Engineering Operations at Prince William School

Course content

City and Guilds NVQ Level 1 This course is designed for those who intend to work in the engineering industry, to provide a basic understanding of the skills and knowledge to do a range of engineering tasks. To achieve the Performing Engineering Operations Level 1, candidates must complete two compulsory units: Working Safely in an Engineering Environment and Working with Others on Engineering Activities, and two optional units, e.g: - Engineering Tools and Machines - Working with Sheet Metal - Making Components from Thick Plate Wood Based Materials - Joining using Welding Techniques - Carrying out Routine Servicing - Making Sand Moulds/Laying Up The course is assessed through a folder of evidence and interview with an assessor. On completion, students can continue to a higher level Engineering course or obtain a work placement in an engineering firm.  This course is offered at an off site facility. If you choose to study this course, transport will be provided from school to the venue. Please be aware that you may have to purchase certain items of clothing to comply with health and safety regulations, e.g. steel toe capped boots.
