ASDAN PSD Entry 1 - 3 at Springhallow Special School

Course description

The ASDAN Personal and Social Development (PSD) qualifcation offers creative and imaginative ways in supporting pupils in: - becoming confident individuals who are physically, emotionally and socially healthy - being responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society and embrace change - managing risk together with their own well-being as well as introducing pupils to new activities and personal challenges. At Springhallow pupils will cover a range of units, available for PSD at Entry 1, 2 or 3. Each unit has a credit rating, 1 unit is approximately 10 hours work. Units include, for example, working towards goals, dealing with problems in daily life, working as part of a group, managing own money, preparation for work etc. Pupils will build a portfolio of evidence which is submitted to show evidence of meeting assessment units for either a Certificate for PSD at Entry 1, 2 or 3 (13 credits) or the Award for PSD at Entry 1, 2 or 3 (6 credits).

There are no formal entry requirements.

Future opportunities

The course very much supports preparation for developing independence and suitable education opportunities in both mainstream and specialist environments.This will allow for further opportunities to progress via other Entry 1 courses, on to Entry 2 / 3 courses and for those working at Entry 3 to progress on to Level 1 qualifications in a suitable post 16 placement.
