Music Performing at Knutsford Academy

Course description

Course Information: Level 3 BTEC Music qualifications are valued highly by colleges, universities and employers. The Level 3 Certificate in Music Performing is currently equivalent to an AS Level and the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Music Performing is currently equivalent to an A2 Level. Course Content and Assessment Requirements: The course is made up of a combination of mandatory and optional units.

The culmination of the course is the staging of and performance in a Music Event. This course is largely practical in nature and students are expected to complete a certain amount of independent study. Assessment is ongoing throughout the course in the form of performances and supplementary written work. During the two year course students will complete six units: Mandatory Units:

Techniques Working And Developing As A Musical Ensemble
Optional Units (four will be studied from the following selection which will be chosen according to student interest): *Solo Music

* Classical Music In Practice
* Music Performance
* Session Styles
* Music Project

* Pop Music In Practice
* The Music Freelance World
* Singing Techniques
* And Performance Special Subject Investigation
