Electrical Installations (Buildings and Structures) Level 2 Diploma at Aylesbury College

Course description

This qualification is intended for those interested in joining the electrical contracting industry. It provides the skills and knowledge necessary for the installation of wiring systems and other electrical equipment.

Course content

Basic Inspection and Testing, Working Safely and Effectively with Electricity, Basic Electrical Principles, The Installation and Wiring of Electrical systems and Equipment.


Example modules Working Effectively and Safely in the Electrotechnical Environment Principles of Electrotechnology Application of Health and Safety and Electrical Principles Basic installation of wiring systems Inspecting and Testing Electrical Science


Entry requirements

You will need to show genuine interest in the Electrical industry.
Entry is also dependant on an interview
Functional skills assessment (English and Maths) 
It is desirable to have 3 GCSEs at D or above including English, Maths and IT, or a full Level 1 qualification at Merit grade or above.


Assessments are obtained in two ways: via an online City and Guilds (GOLA) exam and practical skills assessment within the workshop.

Financial information

A course contribution fee of £50.00, this covers one external trade related trip and one textbook. You will be required to supply your own boots and overalls.

Future opportunities

You will be able to progress to Level 3 in Electrical Installation, or City & Guilds Work Based Apprenticeship.

The qualification will enable you to find employment within the Electrical Installation industry.
