Business at Notre Dame High School
All students aspire to work in an industry that is both interesting and rewarding. The AS Business course gives students an insight in to the diverse areas of business, developing knowledge and skills that are highly sought after by both employers and universities.
This course allows students to work both independently and as a team taking part in a variety of engaging lessons. You will learn the importance of marketing, how to identify, target and satisfy customer needs, and how to motivate people, in order to maximise their output. You will learn that every business decision has financial implications, and you will be taught how to calculate profit, forecast cash flow and identify the break-even point for a business.
There is a balance of external assessment (one third) and coursework (two thirds). This may especially interest students who prefer coursework elements of assessment to exams. Prior to external exams a case-study is pre-issued: this enables students to familiarise themselves with material supported by teaching staff.
Careers can be diverse: Management in a range of organisations e.g. NHS, Sport Management, Media and Retail Management; or careers such as Accountancy and Law. A high percentage of A2 Business students choose to continue studying the subject enrolling on a Business related course at university.
