Children's Play, Learning and Development at Childwall Sports & Science Academy

Course description

Children’s play, learning and development (CPLD) is a new and exciting course, with an innovative delivery, designed for learners to maximise their learning opportunities in school. It is a BTEC Level1/2 qualification, suitable for all level1/2 learners who hope to be parents one day or have an interest in how children learn and develop. The course is delivered over 3 days in school, and two days are spent on placement in a nursery, playgroup or primary school. This course is equivalent to two GCSEs.

CPLD engages learners and provides them with the knowledge skills and understanding to take responsibility for their own learning. Through the research and investigation of how children play and learn, Sixth Form learners develop essential skills and attributes which are sought by employers, further education colleges and higher education institutions.

CPLD aims to develop the whole of the learner. Research whilst on placement, brings learning to life. In school learners develop a range of transferable skills including team working; working to a set brief; time management; presenting information both verbally and through the use of ICT.
