Further Mathematics A Level *FEES PAYABLE* at Felsted School

Course description

The Further Mathematics course allows
the most able Mathematicians to work
at a pace which suits them and to
study Mathematics in much more
depth than the single A Level allows.
Topics such as imaginary numbers,
differential equations and groups are
explored in detail alongside a broad
range of applied Mathematics topics.
 
Studying Further Mathematics helps
further develop powers of logical
reasoning, problem-solving skills and
resilience.
 
The concept of proof is developed in
some depth and the application of
Mathematics to the real world is
explored at length.

Entry requirements

A* grade at GCSE.

Assessment

AS Level
3 modules each worth a third of the AS.
 
A Level
A further 3 modules. The 3 AS and 3
A2 modules each make up a sixth of
the overall grade.
These are in addition to the 6
modules contributing to A Level
Mathematics.

Future opportunities

Further Mathematics is widely held to
be one of the most intellectually
challenging A Levels and as such is
very highly regarded by universities
and prospective employers alike.
 
Anybody considering studying
Mathematics or a subject with a high
Mathematical content at university
should take this course. It opens doors
to careers in Finance, Management,
Engineering, Science, Education and
many other areas.
