Sport and Active Leisure - Higher Diploma at St Pauls Academy

Course description

Level Two – this qualification is equivalent to 7 A*-C GCSE grades Duration: 2 days Thursday and Friday Description The Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure will provide students with knowledge and understanding of the industry. The industry is rapidly changing and the workforce needs to be equipped with the skills and knowledge to make a valuable contribution to the sector. This Diploma is not designed to produce world class athletes, but students interested in the Diploma need to have a keen interest in the industry. Theoretical knowledge is backed up by a strong emphasis on learning by doing. Through their work placement students are able to learn how to think for themselves, how to problem solve, how to communicate, how to work independently, and how to work successfully as part of a team. Components The Higher Diploma requires a more technical understanding and may focus on different business functions such as running a business in the sport and active leisure industry and developing interpersonal skills and customer care. Assessment Internal assessment is made of generic and practical skills. Students will undertake supervised activities under controlled conditions.
