Religious Studies AS & A Level at Blatchington Mill School and Sixth Form College

Course description

Religious Studies helps students develop their interest in, and enthusiasm for, a rigorous study of Religion and its relation to the wider world. Students will have an opportunity to study aspects of one or more religions, including textual, theological, historical, ethical, phenomenological and philosophical perspectives. A wide choice of topics is offered for study in the areas of ethics, philosophy of religion, the world religions, religion and art, religion and contemporary society.

Entry requirements

5 A*-C GCSE including English (B or above).

This course is particularly suitable for students who have studied Religious Studies at GCSE but no prior knowledge of Religious Studies is required.

Future opportunities

The course encourages students to develop critical and evaluative skills which will enable them to go on to higher education to study a wide range of courses including Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, Law, Sociology and the Social Sciences.
