ICT Level 3 at Sandhurst School

Course description

Level 3 courses use a combination of assessment styles to give the students confidence to apply their knowledge to succeed in the workplace – and have the study skills to continue learning on higher education courses and throughout their career. This range of vocational assessments – both practical and written – mean students can showcase their learning and achievements to best effect when they take their next step, whether that’s supporting applications to higher education courses or potential employers.

Course content

The course is equivalent to one A Level. It comprises four units, of which three are mandatory and two are externally assessed in the form of an examination.

Mandatory units include:

  • Information Technology Systems
  • Creating Systems to Manage Information
  • Using Social Media in Business

Optional units include:

  • Programming; Data Modelling
  • Website Development
  • Mobile Apps Development
  • Computer Games Development

Entry requirements

Grade 5 in GCSE ICT or equivalent.

Future opportunities

With further study, students can progress into a similar field or to employment.
