Painting and Decorating Level 2 Diploma at Hull College Group

Course description

With support of specialist painting and decorating staff, working in an outstanding, modern and well-equipped workshop, you will develop your decorating skills carrying a variety of high level finishing. 

Finishes include applying wall paper to ceilings and walls and applying paint systems using low pressure spray.

Course content

  • Health and Safety
  • Apply Paint Systems by Brush and Roller
  • Apply Standard Papers to Ceilings and Walls
  • Working Platforms - Tower Rigs
  • Apply Water-borne Paint Systems using High Volume Low Pressure (HVLP) Spray

Entry requirements

Students should have completed Level 1 Diploma or an equivalent level of training.


All assessment is on-going, and is divided into two areas:

  • Practical
  • Job knowledge (including an external examination).

Financial information

Students will be required to provide their own boots, overalls and general stationery equipment. Safety footwear must be worn in all workshops. We do not allow the use of safety trainers except in Painting and Decorating where this may be appropriate.

Students will also be required to purchase a Hull College polo shirt for the course (approx. £8). Information regarding this will be provided at interview.

Future opportunities

Successful completion will allow progression on to the Level 3 Painting and Decorating.
