Health & Social Care Cambridge Technical Level 3 Extended Certificate at Northallerton School & Sixth Form College

Course description

This qualification is ideal for students who want a broad background in health and socail care and will appeal to those wanting to purse  careers in health care, social care, or work with children and young people. The course is a mix of examination and coursework units.

Course content

Students are expected to be well organised and develop good independent learning habits. In addition, students can opt to pursue a work placement which supports their learning in a different way. It provides practical hands-on experience which can then be applied to the theoretical aspects of the course. Some university courses require students to have undertaken work experience. 
3 units in Y12
3 further units in Y13
To include:
  • Building positive relationships in H&SC
  • Equality, diversity and rights
  • Health, safety and security

Plus other units, for example:

  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Nutrition for health
  • Creativity and activity for children

Entry requirements

5 GCSE'S C or above (Including English and Maths grade 4 or above)

Future opportunities

Students can pursue further study on related courses at university such as primary teaching, social work, nursing or midwifery, or other health related courses or move onto employment/further traiing in health, social care, early years education or the criminal justice system.
