Intermediate Apprenticeship in Business and Administration at SBC Training

Course description

This course is for people who would like to develop the initial skills that will enable them to progress a career in Business and Administration.



Course content

The programme is made up of a combination of qualifications:

Knowledge based – Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Business and Administration

This qualification provides the initial knowledge and theory of Business and Administration.

Competence based – Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Business and Administration

This qualification helps to put the knowledge gained into practice in the workplace.

Functional Skills in Number, Communication and IT will be integrated into the programme to provide support to ensure that key skills are at the appropriate level to take the job forward.

The Apprentice will spend most of the time working with the employer gaining valuable experience and contributing to the administrative function whist most likely working in a support role for existing staff.  In addition the opportunity to gain wider experience will be useful.

Entry requirements

There are no specified entry requirements, however, a good standard of English and Numeracy are needed. 

Future opportunities

The assessor will discuss what ‘next steps’ options are available. These will be tailored to requirements and will outline opportunities to progress raining and career further. Typical progression is to an Advanced Apprenticeship in Business Administration or into Accounting, IT or Customer Service specialisms.

Further information

Following enrolment, learners engage in a blended programme of training and support that may include attendance at group training sessions, on a day release basis, self-directed learning and a mixture of on-line and face to face support from their personal tutor. It will be helpful if learners have access to a computer and the internet.
