Art and Design BTEC First at Oldershaw Academy
Course description
This is an exciting new one year course worth 4 GCSEs grades A*-C when you pass the course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on workplace situations and activities because it is a work related course.
The course will also help you to build up a portfolio of work. You will develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes which are essential for successful performance in working life.
Course content
You will study eight core units: Contextual Reference in Art and Design, 2D and 3D Visual Communication, Using Ideas to Explore, Develop and Produce Art and Design, Building an Art and Design Portfolio, Working in the Art and Design Industry, Working with Graphic Design Briefs and Working with 3D Design Briefs.
Entry requirements
The course requires you to have 4 GCSEs at grades E or above. These should include English and Maths but you may re-take them in the Sixth Form if necessary.
