Economics A-Level at The Coleshill School

Course description

Students with an open and enquiring mind who prefer an examination format of assessment. Throughout the course students are encouraged to develop a critical understanding of economic concepts and themes through awareness of current economic issues, institutions and problems that affect every day life.

Economics is a well established and highly regarded A Level accepted by all higher education establishments. Economics provides entry into a range of professional, managerial and academic posts and is welcomed by employers as evidence of a student’s analytical and evaluative abilities.

Course content

The Units included on this course, cover:

  1. Markets and Market Failure
  2. The National Economy
  3. Business Economics
  4. The Distribution of Income, Government Policy, The National and International Economy.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements to A Level Courses are 5 A* to C grades at GCSE including English and Maths.

Subject Specific

This course demands a high level of numeracy and a grade B or above in GCSE Mathematics is desirable



Two examination papers in June. Assessment consists of multiple choice questions and written answers in response to a piece of data.
