Design & Technology - Product Design 3d AQA AS and A Level at Larkmead School
This subject is still a legacy A level. This means that the result of the AS exams contributes 50% to the overall A level marks, the second 50% coming from exams at the end of year 13 on the A2 modules.
Unit 1 (PROD1): The AS course consists of a 2hr written examination (Unit 1) based on Materials, Components and Application, this accounts for 50% of the AS course. The other 50% is achieved through a Coursework Project.
Unit 2 (PROD2): Learning through designing and making (Unit 2), where a portfolio of work will be submitted for assessment.
Unit 3 (PROD3): The A2 course consists of two units. There is a 2hr written examination (Unit 3) based on Design and Manufacture, this accounts for 25% of the A2 course. The other 25% is achieved through a Coursework Project.
Unit 4 (PROD4): Designing and Making Practice (Unit 4), where a single design and make project will be submitted for assessment.
How you will learn (investigations, course work etc.):
A range of skills work will be used to develop your knowledge and understanding of Product Design and the associated materials and manufacturing techniques.
