Music - A level at Turton High School & Sixth Form College

Course description

A level music is one of the most multi-disciplinary courses you can take, encompassing technical analysis, creative composition work and practical performance. This makes it one of the most enjoyable and varied courses on offer for musicians who have a keen interest in expanding their understanding of how music is constructed, created and presented. The course covers a multitude of genres and styles and there is certainly lots of space for students to explore areas of particular personal  interest. Success in this course is indicative of a student who is artistically creative and confident while also possessing the ability to demonstrate analytical skills in both written and often quite mathematical formats.

We study the AQA syllabus where musical analysis / set works are worth 40%, performance 35% and composition 25%.
