Course description

The Extended Certificate is equal to 1 A-Level covering 4 units of work from a wide variety with 2 externally assessed units. This course is an introduction to Art and Design at this level and is for learners who may want to progress to higher education and combine it with other BTEC nationals or A-Levels. The National Diloma is equivalent to 2 A levels, with 8 units of work, 3 of which are externally assessed. The National Extended Diloma is equivalent to 3 A-Levels with 13 units, 4 of which are externally assessed. These 2 courses are for learners who wish to progress to higher education in visual arts. The courses cover compulsory units including visual recording, communication, production of outcomes and optional units including, fashion, photography, textiles, 3D, animation and many others.

Entry requirements

Grade 4 or above in any Art related GCSE, or, the submission of a small portfolio to assess technical skill and suitability for the course.
