Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Creative Digital Media Production at Ashton Sixth Form College

Course description

You will study a range of topics including research and communication techniques, video and print production. Throughout the course you will be working collaboratively on video productions such as short films and music videos. You will also work in groups producing magazine content and using Photoshop to create album artwork. You will also receive an introduction to writing for the creative media sector and in addition the course will be underpinned with theoretical and research methods.

Course content

Manditory Units

Digital media sectors and audiences, planning & pitching a digital media product and media industry in context.

Optional Units Available at ASFC

Digital moving image production, Digital publishing production, Digital editing for moving image, Digital photography for a media product, Animation for digital media and Lighting for moving image.

Entry requirements

Minimum 3 Grade Ds at GCSE or Equivalent

Grade E — GCSE English Language or Maths (the other GCSE must be at least grade F)

Assessment

80% Coursework

20% Exam

Future opportunities

The course is aimed at Level 2 students aiming to study Media Production at Level 3. Completion of the level 3 course would allow entry to a range of Degree courses at University. Past students of the Level 3 course have studied subjects such as Creative Writing, Advertising and Marketing Communications, Television and Film Production and Computer Games Design.
