Pharmaceutical Science Level 3 Diploma at Tresham College of Further and Higher Education

Course description

This course will take you from general science and maths to specialist Pharmaceutical Science units.

Course content

Topics will include dispensing and supply of medicines; pharmacy law, ethics and practice; chemical principles for pharmacy technicians; biological principles in pharmacy; microbiology for pharmacy; action and uses of medicines; gastrointestinal and nutritional medicines as well as the manufacture of medicines for pharmacy.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including maths and Science.


Your main course has no written end of year exam. Each unit has a number of assignments that will build up in a portfolio of coursework evidence to combine to give an overall grade which yields UCAS points.

Financial information

You will need a scientific calculator and stationery. A USB drive will be required to save your coursework as a backup.

    • The four-storey building, designed by Bond Bryan architects, provides a vibrant and contemporary college environment.  The heart space of the complex is the impressive atrium that includes a Learner Information and Advice Centre, a Refectory and Coffee Shop, Computer Suites and a multi media Library and Resource Centre.

Active learners can take advantage of the multi-use four-court sports hall, fitness suite and forthcoming landscaped sports fields. The hairdressing and beauty salons are also based at the campus.

      Supported Learning Programmes specially created for learners with learning difficulties and disabilities are on offer at the Kettering campus. Students develop the essential social and work skills that build confidence and prepare them for independent living and employment. High level support is provided by skilled and experienced staff in a simulated living area including kitchens, a bathroom and lounge.

      Skills for Life Workshop is available to improve basic Maths and English skills and English classes for speakers of other languages
