A Level Textile Design at Huddersfield New College
The A Level in Textile Design is a unique and engaging course that supports students to develop their interests in fashion design and garment construction. You’ll explore a wide range of techniques and processes to allow you to develop an in-depth understanding of shape, form, texture, pattern and colour. For those with a passion for Textiles, studying this subject at A Level allows you express yourself imaginatively and creatively through the art of costume design. Studying with a TES Shortlisted ‘Teacher of the Year’, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in embroidery and garment construction, while researching the work of inspirational artists and designers to influence and hone your individual style. You will have the opportunity to showcase your designs at the Lawrence Batley Theatre, in a spectacular end of year fashion show. This is supported with work experience opportunities, residential visits, and the opportunity to undertake additional enrichment activities.
Grade 4 in GCSE Textiles or a relevant GCSE Art subject. If students have not taken a GCSE Art subject, then a portfolio of work will be considered.
