Further Mathematics at Blessed George Napier School

Course description

This is a course for well-qualified GCSE students who intend to go on to study Mathematics or Science or Engineering at University. Difficult topics like complex numbers, matrices and proof by induction are tackled in the first year, along with mechanics and numerical methods. It is an exciting and challenging course and the first year syllabus gives an excellent insight into higher mathematics. Students take the AS Further Maths exams in the first year and can go on in the second year to do the A2 units.

Entry requirements

A minimum of five A* - C grades at GCSE is required for all students wishing to enter the Sixth Form. Good GCSE grade (A* or a good grade A) plus recommendation from the student’s Maths teacher.
