English Literature A Level at Beaufort Co-operative Academy

Course description

The brand new A Level English Literature GCE, (first taught September 2015) is a two year course with assessment taking place via both examination and coursework. Throughout the two years students will have the opportunity to study a range of different literary texts (drama, poetry and prose) related to a given genre/area of study (Comedy) and later Crime Writing. Students will explore the origins, history and typicality’s of the given genre, before applying this knowledge to specific texts, looking at criticisms and considering their own readings. For the purpose of the coursework element, students will explore a given Critical Anthology which highlights the ideas of Marxism and Feminism, relating a text of their choice to each concept.

Future opportunities

English Literature is a highly respected Level 3 qualification, sound proof of your command of the English language and academic achievement. It can lead to University and Further Education College entrance and will serve you well in most careers
