Level 2 Diploma in Sport & Enterprise in the Community at West Kent College

Course description

The course offers the opportunity for students to progress down two separate pathways dependent upon their interests and future aspirations. Giving students the opportunity to develop the skills needed for employment within the sports and fitness industries or the public services, this course will give you an understanding of why fitness and nutrition is important and help you assess your own levels. You will also benefit from taking part in the planning and running of a community project, undertaking risk assessments, as well as increasing your teamwork and leadership skills.

Students may have the opportunity to undertake additional short qualifications as part of their course. These are designed to support future careers.

Entry requirements

You will need four GCSEs at Grades D/3 or above including English and maths. Or a Level 1 Diploma in Sport with GCSE English and maths at grades D/3 or above.

Assessment

Students will be assessed throughout the course using assignments, on and offline tests and practical observations.

Future opportunities

Successful students can progress onto a Level 3 in Sports or Public Services. Alternatively, you may gain employment in the industry.

Further information

This course is linked to our sports enrichment programme representing an exciting opportunity for students to develop sporting expertise and study skills. Students on the course are expected to take part in a variety of enrichment activities each week. Opportunities range from taking part in one of our College sports teams, working in the community or undertaking further study and courses within the department.
