Housing Apprenticeship Advanced Level 3 at Southampton City College

Course description

This apprenticeship is suitable for you if you want to start a career or develop your existing skills in working in Housing. The apprenticeship is suitable for those working in the sector already – in housing maintenance assistant roles, housing repairs or housing officer roles or tenant participation. It is also suitable for tenants wishing to gain a greater understanding of the housing industry.

Course content

As an apprentice you will develop skills for working in housing, learn and understand:

  •  Different types of housing provision
  •  Relationships between landlord and tenants
  •  Equality and diversity
  •  Different roles within a housing context
  •  The range of services available
  •  Regulations and funding
  •  Managing your own workload
  •  How to work effectively with other people

Entry requirements

A full assessment will take place to ensure you have the skills to complete the qualification. As this is an advanced apprenticeship, all applicants will require GCSEs at grade A*-C in English and maths (or equivalent), or can demonstrate through the assessment process that they will be able to achieve this. By completing a workplace audit the Apprenticeship Coordinator will be able to establish whether you are covering the right level of tasks in the workplace to support the criteria necessary for the on-site evidence.


An apprentice can expect to be doing work based learning with an employer and to be paid a wage. The apprenticeship will include a diploma, functional skills and knowledge based element or technical certificate.
