Health & Social Care (Double Award) AS/A2 Level at Christleton High School
Health and Social Care is a broad subject area, covering many current, important issues. Communication is a key element in the course; students will investigate what can promote or inhibit good communication. You will also learn how social, psychological and physiological issues can impact on the life of those needing care.
The course examines barriers when accessing services, alternative communication, health, illness and disease. You will also discover some of the factors and theories influencing human development, and how these theories are applied to understand human behaviour. Attitudes and prejudices are studied to find out how this can affect care. Laws and policies protecting rights, promoting equality and safety are also investigated.
