Course description

Business Studies provides a broad introduction to the business sector and encourages the development of skills, knowledge and understanding in realistic business contexts. For the AS, you will study three units: Investigating Business (internally assessed portfolio); People in Business (internally assessed portfolio) and Financial Planning and Monitoring (external examination). Entry requirements

Grade B or 5 in English Language and grade 5 in Maths desirable

Grade B or Merit in Business if studies at GCSE/Level 2



Unit 1 and 2 : internally assessed

Unit 3:  External examination

Financial information

A school bursary may be awardred to students meeting the relevant financial criteria.

16-18 card for reduced fare on public transport (offered by TWM on Buses only)

Future opportunities

These courses will enable you to choose from a variety of areas to specialise in at higher levels or in the world of work. The course provides numerous opportunities in Business and/or it compliments a number of other courses to broaden your skills.Successful achievement on this course will allow you to continue onto A2 Applied Business where a further three units are studied: Business Planning (internally assessed portfolio); Marketing Strategy (internally assessed portfolio) and Managing People (external examination). This course will enable you to choose from a variety of areas to specialise in higher levels at college or university or in the world of work - finance, accountancy, banking, insurance, marketing, research, statistics, public relations, advertising, human resource management, personnel, training, management, law, politics, economics, mathematics, teaching, ICT, computer studies/science ... many, many more areas.
