Course description

Unit 1 The Sports lndustry: Within this unit you will investigate local sports facilities and complete an assignment set by the exam board. Unit 2 Health, Safety and Injury: Within this unit you will look at what are the common injuries in your chosen sport and how rules and regulations help to minimise them. Unit 3 Preparation for Sport: You will look at the preparation required for a successful sports performance. Plan a simple fitness programme. Look at the influence of nutritional and psychological factors. Unit 4 The body in Sport: This unit provides the information to show how the body responds before, during and after exercise. Unit 5 Sports Leaderships: You will look at the skills and qualities of a leader, you will plan and deliver a sporting activity Unit 11 Practical Sport: You will demonstrate skills and tactical awareness within a range of sports. Examine the rules and regulations for these sports and the responsibilities of officials. Assessment Unit 1 Externally assessed unit: This takes the form of a project which is set by the exam board. Unit 2, 3, 4, 5 and 11 are internally assessed with a Portfolio of evidence produced for each unit, which matches the assessment grids. Additional Information • This course gives good grounding to anyone looking to complete the Advanced PE course. • It will also complement other Level 2 or 3 courses. • It may be taken as an option because you like the subject. • The BTEC first qualification is equivalent to 4 A-C grades at GCSE.
