Course description

Who is the programme forIt is ideal for individuals who are career minded, have good communication skills and are highly motivated.Apprenticeships offer away to train which combines paid employment, whilst gaining valuable experience. You will need to be in employment and attend college one day per week.You will achieve:A National Vocational Qualification NVQ2, a recognised qualification in the beauty industry.Functional skills in Maths and English.What does the programme include?The programme is modular, consisting of 9 Mandatory units of the NVQ Level 2.The mandatory units include:-G20 Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safetyG8 Promote additional products or services to clientsG18 Develop and maintain your effectiveness at workBT4 Improve and maintain facial skin conditionBT5 Provide eyelash and eyebrow treatmentsBT6 Remove hair using waxing techniquesN2 Provide manicure treatmentN3 Provide pedicure treatmentG4 Fulfil salon reception dutiesRequirements:Wear professional uniform as recommended by the college. High standards of personal hygiene; Be able to work effectively with others and be willing to carry out and receive all treatments; Excellent attendance is required (100% expected, minimum 90% acceptable); Remove all jewellery, including facial piercings (in line with Awarding Body requirements); Hair must be well groomed and if long it must be tied up and off the face.

Entry requirements

A minimum profile of grade D at GCSE including maths and English; a school reference and successful interview.

Assessment

Assessment is continuous by observation of practical skills in college and the workplace. On-line tests, oral questions and assignments.

Future opportunities

Successful students may progress on to Level 3 beauty subject to interview
