Mathematics As / A2 at The Hermitage Academy

Course description

At AS level students will study 3 modules C1, C2 and D1 for AQA.

C1 and C2 are the pure mathematics elements of the course. Students will extend their skills learned at GCSE applying them to higher algebraic techniques, coordinate geometry, calculus and trigonometry.

D1 is a new area of mathematics from GCSE looking at algorithms and networks which is a base for computer programming.

At A2 level students will study 3 modules C3, C4 and M1 for AQA.
C3 and C4 are the next pure mathematics elements of the course building on the work covered at AS. Topics include further algebraic skills, calculus, trigonometry, exponentials and logarithms and vectors.

M1 is the mechanics of physical problems and situations. This provides a good basis for students interested in a career in engineering.
