Information Technology BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Boldon School
BTEC Level 3 Diplomas delivered at Boldon School are designed to provide specialist work-related qualifications. They give students the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare them for employment and apprenticeship or to progress into higher education at College or University. The extended diploma is broadly equivalent to 3 A Levels, and the subsidiary to 1 A Level.
There is potential for the qualification to prepare students for employment or apprenticeship in the health and social care sector, or to progress into higher education at college or university.
There are a range of careers for you to work towards, for example, Network Co-ordinator, where you set up and maintain a linked group of computers; Software Developer, writing software programs to run on computers; Technical Support or helpdesk work where you would be problem solving for customers; Website Developer or Administrator building and maintaining a website.
All students who enrol on this course will have access to new IT equipment to aid their learning and progression.
The course is 100% coursework, made up of mandatory and optional units. The assignments for all units must be completed to pass the course. There are no external exams.

At least five GCSEs at grade A*-C or BTEC Level 2 in Information Technology. Students will continue to study English and Maths if they have not achieved GCSE grade C or above.
