Course description

Media Production provides an exciting approach to TV, film, video, print, radio and digital production combining academic study, practical skills and understanding professional practice. The course prepares students for a broad range of media related courses at HE and for entry into the industry.

Course content

The OCR Cambridge Technical is a non-examined course which is assessed through assignments and units. It is designed for learners who want to study media where they can learn and be assessed in ways that are practical and relevant to the media sector. This qualification has been developed in close collaboration with industry and is supported by both the sector skills council and a range of professional organisations/employers that represent the sector. It is designed to give you the practical and creative skills that transfer easily into the workplace.

You will take 18 units, made up of one core and 17 specialist units. The core unit will provide an understanding of media institutions, products, production processes and technologies. The optional units cover broader areas of study such as print Film, Audio visual promotions, Photography and Animation. The qualification will also enable you to develop a range of desirable skills including research, project management, co-operative group work and independent learning.

The course is the equivalent of 3 A Levels

You would do this course as a full time course but would have the option to take another A Level alongside it



This course will be assessed by Coursework and a Portfolio of Evidence.
