Course description

An apprenticeship in the RAF offers you the chance to gain a UK-recognised trade qualification as part of a challenging and unique career. Not only will you gain a civilian recognised professional qualification, but upon completion you’ll also have a guaranteed job in your chosen field.

We offer all kinds of apprenticeships in a broad and diverse range of careers including aviation operations, engineering, hospitality & catering and IT. You’ll receive the very best training and accelerated pay, and as well as getting paid to learn, you’ll get the chance to travel the world, play sport and perform an important role in the RAF.

To gain an apprenticeship in the RAF you still need to meet all of the entry requirements for whichever role it is for and get through all stages of the application process. You will gain the apprenticeship as part of your phase two (trade) training.

The RAF School of Administration has been delivering civilian recognised vocational qualifications since 1993 and in 2000 was one of the first training establishments to adopt the Foundation Modern Apprenticeship which has now become the Business and Administration Intermediate Apprenticeship. In 2013 the RAF School of Administration merged with the Army and the Navy to become Personnel Administration Training Wing at the Defence College of Logistics’, Policing and Administration situated at Worthy Down” Upon successful completion of the Service Initial Personal Administration Course learners are promoted to leading aircraftman and assigned to their first Main Operating Base. It is an aspiration that these personnel are assigned to a Human Resources Section at an RAF Main Operating Base. Tasks within the Human Resources Section include: pay, allowances, pre deployment documentation, promotion, assignments and management of annual appraisal reports.
