Course description

A very successful course that encourages students to explore and experiment with photography. Students need to be committed to working in their own time and able to work to tight deadlines.

Course content

Students will be given themes to investigate and encouraged to explore their own area of interest, these could include; • portraiture • landscape photography (working from the urban, rural and/or coastal environment) • still-life photography, working from objects or from the natural world • documentary photography, photo journalism • experimental imagery • photographic installation, video, television and film.

Assessment

Normal entry requirements are a grade C or above at GCSE in Art or Photography.

Further information

Students will be introduced to a variety of experiences exploring a range of photographic media, techniques and processes. They will be made aware of and experiment with both traditional and new technologies. Students will explore relevant images, artefacts and resources relating to Photography and a wider range of art and design, from the past and from recent times. Students will use sketchbooks/workbooks/ journals to underpin their work. There is no specific requirement for students to demonstrate drawing skills unless they wish to do so.
