Health and Social Care BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Weymouth College

Course description

Expanding your knowledge of the health and social care sector will increase your employment prospects. This is a work-related qualification that will help you to develop skills to work effectively and expand your knowledge and understanding in the different specialist areas of health and social care. There is a mixture of theory and practical work within this course. It will help you to understand and choose the areas of work that you might like to specialise in within the sector.

Course content

Units may include: • Communication • Individual rights • Safety • Human development • Creative and therapeutic activities • The impact of diet.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade D or above including English.


You will need to complete and pass six assignments, one for each unit. Work experience Work experience is offered as part of this course with local employers; this will enable you to apply your new skills in a real working situation.

Future opportunities

This qualification is designed to enable you to enter employment at a trainee level within a wide range of health and social care settings. It should be noted that some careers have a minimum age for entry. You may progress to further education, such as the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care or an Advanced Apprenticeship programme.
