Construction and the Built Environment Extended Diploma Level 3 at Southport College
The construction industry contributes around £100 billion to the UK economy and is essential to the development of infrastructure (roads and rail) as well
as the creation of public and private buildings, houses and shops. It is an exciting time to join the construction industry with the development of environmentally friendly building practices and technologies.
The Level 3 Construction course opens up many doors for you, including a path to university. Most students who complete the course progress to university. Careers available to students who complete the Level 3 and a subsequent degree include:
Building Services Engineer
While on the course you will study a variety of units including:
Health, Safety & Welfare
Construction in Civil Engineering
Further mathematics for construction
Design for Construction
The units will prepare you for a career or further studies at university.
Minimum 5 GCSEs at A*- C including English and maths or Merit in a related Level 2 Diploma and C or above in English and maths. Satisfactory reference & interview.
Students are continually assessed through a range of modular assignments
On successful completion of this course student may progress onto university to study areas such as Architecture, Civil Engineering or Construction Management. Students may also pursue an Advanced Apprenticeship with the construction sector.
