Course description

 

A-Level Mathematics is an excellent foundation for both further study and employment. It opens doors to a variety of exciting careers: Banking, Investment, Teaching, Computing, Chartered Accountants, Medical Statistics, Pharmaceutical Development, Cryptography –internet, credit cards, Actuarial Science, Structural Engineers, Space Research. In fact, at some level, nearly every profession needs mathematicians. This may be a valuable course for you if you are interested in studying any of the following at University: Accountancy, Physics, Medicine, Engineering, Surveying and Architecture.

Core Mathematics: Consists of algebra and functions, equations and inequality, curve sketching, coordinate geometry, differentiation and integration, exponential and logarithm.

Mechanics: Consists of the study of forces and motion of bodies.

Statistics: Consists of mathematical models in probability, discrete random variables and the normal distribution.

Decision Mathematics: Used to solve real life, practical problems.

Entry requirements

A-level Maths is a subject which can be very demanding and tests one‘s ability to persevere. You will need to have strong algebraic skills to cope with the demands of this subject. You will need to have an B/A* in GCSE Mathematics.
