Level 2 Diploma in Childcare at Andover College

Course description

This course explores the concept of child development, considering communication, play, stages of development, first aid, health and safety and develops skills to work with children through placement settings.

All students on the Level 2 course will have the opportunity to work alongside professionals in work placement two days a week starting as soon as CRB checks have been passed. You will have the opportunity to work in a Pre-school, School and sometimes a Day Nursery which will provide the opportunity for you to put the classroom theory into practice.

To succeed on the course you will have to be committed to both college work and work placement. You will have to show a professional interest in working with children, and be prepared to learn new skills such as first aid, and how to carry out observations.

You will show initiative and be a hard worker.The work experience is a key element to the course and as well as going out twice weekly you will also have the privilege of working in a setting for block placements. As a Childcare team we raise money for Children in Need which has become a much looked forward to event in the Childcare calendar.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at D Grade or above~ one including English.Interview Required: Yes
