Course description

An IT Applications Specialist Advanced Apprenticeship offers a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in the workplace whilst studying for nationally recognised qualifications. Course content

Your Advanced Apprenticeship will include a mixture of on and off the job training where you will gain the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to progress your career in ICT. You will be appointed a dedicated Training Advisor who will support you throughout your Apprenticeship and offer practical guidance.

Throughout your Apprenticeship, your study may include the following:

  • Word processing software
  • Database software
  • Spreadsheet software
  • Presentation software
  • IT security
  • Bespoke software
  • Using email and internet

In addition to the above, you will develop your maths, English and ICT through Functional Skills at Level 2 which will involve a period of learning (building on your existing skills) before you undertake on-line assessments to confirm your knowledge and understanding.

Entry requirements

In general you will be focused, logical, motivated, organised and have an eagerness to learn. You will need to be prepared for a challenge, to learn varied tasks thoroughly and work effectively under pressure both individually and as part of the team.

Whatever your GCSE grades or experience we will recommend an appropriate starting point for your Apprenticeship. At an advanced level, you must be able to operate independently, taking responsibility for your own work and able to make a real difference to the organisation.

 

Assessment

Apprenticeships are achieved through assessment and training . Assessment is normally through on-the-job observation and questioning. You will produce evidence to prove that you meet national standards. You will be appointed an Training Advisor who will work with you throughout your Apprenticeship.The Training Advisor will test your knowledge, understanding and work-based performance to make sure that you can work effectively in your chosen career.

When you start an Apprenticeship, CWT Chamber Training will help you to identify the correct course and level, identify what you already know, analyse what you need to learn and agree an individual plan of learning based on your needs.

Typically you will undertake a mixture of training in the workplace as well as attending CWT Chamber Training's training facility for additional learning to build your knowledge.

We offer specialist workshops to develop your skills in Functional English, Maths and ICT which will lead to you undertaking on-line assessments.

 

 

Financial information

You will be a paid an Apprenticeship salary by your employer, this will be agreed when you are offered a job. For those who are aged 16 - 18, Apprenticeship training is fully funded by the Government and all of the agreed costs of your learning will be met. For those aged 19+, partial funding is available, full details will be provided on enquiry.

Future opportunities

The opportunities are endless. Achievement of an Advanced Apprenticeship at Level 3 will stand you in good stead to progress your IT career and even into higher education whilst you are working. There is a clear pathway of learning, including:

  • NVQ 4 - Team Leader/ Technician /Web Designer
  • Foundation Degree - Manager/IT Manager
  • Specialist IT Degree - Technical Specialist/SeniorManager

      CWT Chamber Training has a range of up to date, modern training facilities, where technology is widely used to ensure our courses are fun, informative and highly valued by employers.

      All rooms are resourced with up-to-date equipment i.e. smart boards, internet access and comprehensive information, advice and guidance materials are available with qualified staff on hand to support your decision making.

      In the main we will visit you at your employer’s premises and our qualified experienced Training Advisors will work with you on a one-to-one basis.
