BUSINESS STUDIES at Steyning Grammar School

Course description

Through the study of AS you will gain an appreciation and understanding of how a business functions and achieves success in a global environment. You will also learn how to make business decisions and solve problems.

In A2 the knowledge in AS is taken to a higher, more in-depth level where you will be expected to analyse business situations and create solutions to problems utilising business techniques.

At A2, the skill of being able to analyse and evaluate business information is examined more heavily than in AS. This means you will have to show the examiner you can justify your decisions by looking at the evidence in a logical way and then 'weighing up' to arrive at a conclusion.

The course is designed for anyone who has an interest in Business. After all at some point in our lives you will be working in a business and so having a better understanding of how they work can only be of benefit! If you are the person who can approach problems with a logical mind and are able to structure your arguments well then this course may be for you. You will need these skills in the exams as you answers are assessed by levels of response and so require a logically approached response to score well. As a consequence if you enjoy English and have a logical mind then you are best placed to do well on this course.
