GCSE Music Grade C and/ or BTEC level 2 in Performing Arts in Music. To enter, you need to perform a piece of your choice. You need to have a good attendance and punctuality record and at least 3-4 GCSEs grade C and above.
Each unit is assessed at the end of the term, on the basis of 1-2 units per term across two years. The ‘Music Performance Process’ and ‘Music Performance Project’ are two major projects and are externally assessed where an outside examiner is invited to see your work. Assessment is written and practical exam and coursework.
Opportunities to develop the training for the growing live music industry and to integrate vocational qualifications. For full time learners to gain a nationally recognised, vocationally specific qualification to enter employment in cultural venues, artistic programming and sound engineering, or progress to higher education vocational qualifications such as BTEC Higher National Diploma in Music Performance or Music Production or a full time degree in Pop Music, Music Technology or Jazz, popular and Commercial Music.
There are two main classrooms for multipurpose musical activities, one recording studio, three music rehearsal rooms and two music store rooms as well as three concert venue areas within the school. Greig City Academy is directly linked with ‘Collage Arts’ in Wood Green which has access to the ‘Chocolate Factory’ and ‘Selby Centre’ recording studios.
