Course description

A Level 3 course in Applied Science (Medical Science). Results in this subject have been excellent.

Course content

The course is equivalent to 3 passes at A-level. Each assignment can reach the following grades: Fail, Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*. Pass is equivalent to a grade C, Merit, B; Distinction, A; Distinction*, A*. The overall course requirement is to complete module to the equivalent of 180 credits.

Mandatory units:

Fundamentals of Science, Working in the Science Industry, Scientific Investigation, Scientific Practical Techniques, Perceptions of Science, Using Mathematical Tools for Science

Optional Units:

Using Statistics for Science, Physiology of Human Body Systems, Biochemistry & Biochemical Techniques, Microbiological Techniques, Genetics & Genetic Engineering, Medical Physics Techniques, Chemical Laboratory Techniques, Criminology, Forensic Evidence Collection and Analysis.

 

 

 

 

Entry requirements

Students wishing to study this should have a C grade or above in GCSE Sciences and at least a C grade inn Mathematics

All units are assessed by written assignments, which may be research based or practical based. The level of pass achieved will depend upon the depth, and quality, of the written work produced by the student.
