Preparing for Work in the Construction Industry Entry Level 3 at NESCOT

Course description

This course includes brickwork, painting and decorating, carpentry and plastering.

Course content

Students build on their previous knowledge working on small construction projects. They will need to wear steel toe-cap boots and overalls. They will be expected to follow instructions carefully, demonstrating maturity when handling tools.

Students undertaking this course may progress onto a level one in construction if they successfully complete the course and achieve
functional skills literacy and numeracy.

  • Metal work
  • Plaster moulds
  • Painting different surfaces
  • Woodwork and joinery
  • Bricklaying
  • Block laying

Entry requirements

The interview process includes an initial diagnostic assessment as well as an opportunity to discuss your preferences with a member of the team. 

Further information

All students will need to purchase steel toe-cap boots.

      Nescot is located just off the A240 (Reigate Road), close to the junction with the A24 (Ewell Bypass).  The College is just five miles inside the M25 (Junction 9).
      There is a large, free car park for use by students and visitors.

      By Rail:
      Nescot is served by two mainline railway stations.
      Ewell East (Southern Railway)
      Ewell East is a two-minute walk from the College from a public footpath leading off Platform 2.  Trains run every half-hour from London Victoria.
      Ewell West (South West Trains)
      Ewell West, which is 15 minutes walk from the College, is on the main line from London Waterloo.
