Art & Design A/S at Immanuel College

Course description

AS level Art is aimed at students who have a genuine commitment to and interest in art that extends beyond the classroom. The course provides opportunities for students to expand their knowledge and understanding of artistic theory and practice, by exploring a wide range of stimulating themes using a variety of media and techniques.

Course content

Students will be required to produce practical and critical coursework, and a practical controlled test. They will have the opportunity to visit galleries and work with visiting artists in residence, in order to develop their skills and understanding. 

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs grade C or above.

GCSE Art minimum grade C is recommended but we will also consider students who have not taken GCSE if they demonstrate a reasonable level of technical ability and have an understanding of the formal elements of Art and Design.

Further information

This course is extremely rewarding but also very demanding and students must demonstrate both enthusiasm and commitment for developing and presenting their work.
