BTEC Level 3 Music Performing:Certificate (AS) and Subsidiary Diploma (A2) at South Dartmoor Community College

Course description

This modern and contemporary music course focuses on a broad range of musical skills needed in today’s music sector. The main skill of solo/group performing is supported by a range of skills including aural, research of professional practise, improvisation, composing. These form the basis of study in this highly recognised Music Qualification.

Core Unit: Performing Techniques

Core Unit: Solo Performance or Group Performance

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs A to C to include a C or equivalency at Music GCSE. Also the ability to play an instrument or sing.

Assessment

portfolio evidence. All units are equally weighted. For Certificate (AS), each unit is worth 33%. For Subsidiary Diploma (A2), the units are each 16.5% with the three Certificate (AS) units carrying forward in the Subsidiary Diploma, and three further units being completed.

This course provides a great preparation for a career in the music industry and is designed to enable students to gain useful paid employment in performance, recording, music management, and teaching.
